TUB'S NEWS ROOM

2/4/10    Wizards of the Coast Director of Marketing Greg Yahn announced that the company was not renewing its Star Wars license and that it would end this summer.  The decision,  based on the economic downturn, will retain its license until the end of May and will have product available through August. Thinking of licenses, that brings NECA to mind.  With all of the licenses they have in relation to the Wizkids purchase it will be interesting what kind of product they will turn out other than their HeroClix game.  No word yet on the way they will proceed with the HorrorClix and Pirates lines.

1/25/10  To remind everyone that the new Axis and Allies War at Sea Starter will be coming out soon.  Starting to see what the new box art will look like on the internet and the latest scuttle-butt for the revised starter to be released in early March with the Axis and Allies War at Sea Condition Zebra expansion set to follow in the second quarter.  Revised release dates seem to be commonplace so if we hear of a new date we will pass it on.

12/18/09    Some news on the new Axis and Allies starter set and some of the next units for the next set of War at Sea Condition Zebra was revealed a couple of days ago.  The revised starter set will consist of 8 units which will be exclusive to the new starter only.  The idea is that the fixed units will provide a more out of the box play.  This should be appealing to folks who are new to the game.  5 units for the Condition Zebra set has also been revealed.  The units are:
  • Bearn-French Aircraft Carrier
  • Suzuya-IJN Mogami Class Heavy Cruiser
  • Nurnberg-German Cruiser
  • B-24D Liberator-US Patrol Bomber
  • Leonardo da Vinci-Italian fleet submarine
