Miniatures for the battle of Midway

Miniatures for the battle of Midway

The battle of Midway was one of the most brilliant, inspired and fortuitous victorys for the United States in the pacific. In one day the USN, assisted by the Marines and the Army Air Force from Midway Island, leveled the playing field in destroying 4 Japanese Carriers.
The US carriers involved in this battle was the USS Yorktown, USS Enterprise and the USS Hornet. Although the USS Hornet did not play as big of a role as the other two Yorktown Class carriers, she did see action. Towards the end of the battle on June 6, 1942 she did luanch 25 Dauntlesses into the air, eight armed with 500-pound bombs, the rest with 1000-pounders. This air group took out two Japanese cruisers the Mogami and Mikuma.
Although the USS Enterprise and Yorktown are in the Axis and Allies War At Sea sets, you would think the USS Hornet would be on the list to be included in an expansion set down the road.
The Japanese suffered the loss of four carriers during the Battle of Miday. The Akagi is the only one so far that is included in the War At Sea set. The Kaga, Soryu and Hiryu have yet to be seen. With the rumors of the checklist of ships in the Flank Speed expansion set comming out at the end of summer, I have seen no mention of the above ships in this expansion. The word is that the Flank Speed expansion set is more geared at leveling the playing field between the major nations within the sets. I would think sooner or later these vessels will be included. How can they not included these as they were present at one of the biggest naval battles in history. Until then players will have to wait or use substitutes for an oportunity to play out this secnario.
